Charotin Hose Co.Fire Calls
North Catasauqua's Charotin Hose Company recently answered the following calls.
July 12, 5:40 p.m.
Charotin firefighters responded to the area of Third and Grove street for a smoke investigation. The caller had reported seeing smoke down by the river.
Firefighters investigated and found a burn barrel in the yard at 1346 Third St. The homeowner was allowed to extinguish the fire and firefighters cleared the scene. The North Catasauqua burn ordinance does not allow any burning except for outdoor cooking.
Smoke from dwelling
North Catasauqua was dispatched for smoke from a dwelling at 1328 Third St. Catasauqua Fire Department and Northampton Regional EMS were also dispatched for automatic mutual aid.
Upon arrival, firefighters found there was no dwelling fire. The smoke was drifting from a smoldering burn barrel at 1346 Third St. from earlier in the evening. The owner had knocked down the fire but some embers were still smoldering. Catasauqua Fire Department and Northampton Regional EMS units were both recalled and North Catasauqua firefighters fully extinguished the burn barrel to avoid any further problems.
Motor vehicle accident
July 13, 3 p.m.
North Catasauqua firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Fourth and Chapel streets. The caller reported a pickup truck and a car were involved.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a collision between a pickup truck with two occupants and a passenger car with one occupant. The person in the car reported injuries and was removed, immobilized, and treated by Northampton Regional EMS. The occupants from the truck both denied injuries. A small amount of fluid was covered with oil dry. Units remained in scene approximately 30 minutes until both vehicles were towed away.
