The Catty cross country team sits at 13-6 this season.

Zac Edwards, one of the tri-captains of the Rough Riders, said the team sticks together and is part of the reason for their success.

"We are a close-knit group," he said. "We hang out together, work the football games together, go out to eat together."

As sophomores Edwards and his class were 0-25, last year as juniors they were 11-14.

"We have a shot at placing in districts and advancing to states," Edwards added.

The captains are Tony Brinkley, Kurt Wells and Edwards.

"Everybody pushes at practice and we are getting better," Edwards said. "I personally had my best time of my career on senior night."

The team went 4-2 on Tuesday, beating Palisades, Notre Dame East Stroudsburg, Palmerton and Saucon Valley, which is having a down year.

Catty lost to (19-0) Bangor and Wilson, which is 5-1 in the South Division. The Slaters are 9-0 in the Colonial League North. Northwestern Lehigh is second at 18-1 and 7-1.

Edwards recorded hi best time, 19.47.

"It was my first time under 20 minutes," he said. "This year as a senior class we plan to go to districts in cross-country, basketball, and baseball. Cross-country is off to a great start."
