Retired Essroc supervisor

Charles V. Pizzo, 82, of Whitehall, died Sept. 25, 2012, at home. He was the husband of Irene (Kramer) Pizzo for 59 years.

Born in Phillipsburg, N.J., he was the son of the late Anthony and Santa (Re) Pizzo.

He was a Korean War veteran and was a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army.

He was a supervisor for Essroc Cement Company, Coplay and Nazareth for 35 years and retired in 1992.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.

He was president of St. Elizabeth Credit Union, Northampton, and of the former Whitehall Senior Citizens. He was a member of the Whitehall AARP. He was a member of St. Andrew's Young at Heart Group, North Catasauqua, and of the B.V.M. Young at Heart Group, Northampton. He was a member of the American Legion Post 739, Hokendauqua.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David and his wife Tracy of Freemansburg; a daughter, Vickie and her husband David Stockmal of Roswell, Ga.; two grandchildren, Mark and Ryan Stockmal; a brother, Vincent of Michigan; and a sister, Dia Decker of Phillipsburg, N.J.

He was predeceased by a sister, Antoinette; and a brother, George.
