Moms to square off in powder puff game

The moms of Catasauqua will be taking on the moms of Hokendauqua in a powder puff flag football game at the Hokey football field Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m.

This is the second year for the event and this year both teams have joined together to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer.

Donations can be made to the team at, donation team Catasauqua Rough Riders – Powder Puff 2012.

The Catasauqua team also has the support of local businesses to help get the women game-ready and to raise extra money for the cause.


Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast Sunday, Oct. 28, 8 a.m.-noon.

Served is the best SOS in the Valley, scrambled eggs, toast, home fries, bacon, sausage, American (formerly French) toast, juice, coffee and tea. All are welcome.

The Suburban North Family YMCA is hosting a holiday craft fair Saturday, Nov. 3, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Y building.

You can shop a variety of tables that include jewelry, wooden items, holiday gifts from a variety of vendors. The kitchen will be open throughout the event and a tricky tray auction will be held. There is no admission fee.

The Catasauqua Presbyterian Church, 210 Pine St., will hold a Nutcracker Sweet, a craft and flea market Saturday, Nov. 3, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will also be a Chinese auction and bake sale during this time. Breakfast will be served from 9 to 11 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 until the food is gone.


Life Scout Tyler Cormier, of Boy Scout Troop 94 in Catasauqua, is working toward the completion of his Eagle Scout project.

Tyler is collecting slightly used or new backpacks along with personal hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, socks, rain ponchos, shaving cream and disposable razors. The backpacks will be assembled and delivered to the rescue mission in Allentown before the Thanksgiving holiday.

On Saturday, Oct. 27, Tyler will be in the parking lot of the D&D Market on Race Street to collect donations.

Also, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church is collecting donations every Sunday until Oct. 28.

Donations are also being accepted at Brookside Dental Care in Wescosville until Nov. 8.
