Carotin Hose Co. Fire Calls

North Catasauqua's Carotin Hose Company personnel responded to the following calls recently.

Fire alarm

Oct. 6, 3:05 a.m.

Carotin personnel responded to a fire alarm at 1400 Main St., the North Catasauqua High Rise. Upon arrival, firefighters found no alarms present on the alarm panel. A check of the hallways and common areas revealed no problems.

Fire alarm

Oct. 7, 2:52 a.m.

North Catasauqua firefighters responded to another fire alarm at the North Catasauqua High Rise. Firefighters found no alarms present on the alarm panel. A check of the hallways and common areas revealed no problems. The Lehigh County Housing Authority was contacted and was advised of the frequent phantom fire alarms and that the system requires service. The property will be referred to the borough's code enforcement officer for follow up.

Controlled burn

Oct. 7, 11:59 a.m.

NCFD was dispatched with the Northampton and Allen Township fire departments and Northampton Regional EMS for a possible dwelling fire at 1249 Main St., Northampton. A caller had reported smoke from the back of the dwelling.

As personnel began responding, 911 Communications began receiving additional calls reporting a possible controlled burn at that location. Northampton personnel confirmed the controlled burn and held all responding units in quarters, and later canceled all units. The homeowner extinguished the fire.
