In 1926, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 417 Howertown Road, Catasauqua, held its first candlelight concert. Over the years, no matter how bad the weather was, the tradition has continued.
This year, on Sunday, Dec. 9, St. Paul's will host its 86th concert.
Salem United Church of Christ will be singing with the St. Paul's choir again this year. Special guests will include Elizabeth Knecht and the City of Bethlehem Bagpiping Band led by James Ruhf.
Prelude music will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 4 p.m. Following the concert, everyone is invited to share refreshments and fellowship at the candlelight tea.
Admission is free and everyone is invited.
A freewill offering will be collected during the concert.
The last bingo of the year will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center, Second and Union streets, Catasauqua, on Sunday, Dec. 9, beginning at 1 p.m.
The kitchen will be open at 11:30 a.m. for sit-in or takeout.
The event is sponsored by the Assembled Men of St. Mary's. For information, call 610-264-0332.
