Scholar athlete nominees
The Lehigh Valley Soccer Scholar Athlete Banquet will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m.
This year is the inaugural boys and girls joint banquet and it will take place at the Northampton Community Center.
Melissa Fuhrman is a forward with 19 career goals and 14 career assists. She ranks second in her class with a 4.0 GPA out of 4.
She is a four-year letter winner in soccer and was captain her senior year. She was all-Colonial League honorable mention as a sophomore and Morning Call all-area team as a sophomore and junior.
Other activities include: cross country, National Honor Society, Secretary of Student Council and Varsity C Club.
Her other soccer experience includes 13 years playing for various teams. She plans to attend Lebanon Valley College to major in a six-year doctoral physical therapy program.
The Catasauqua boys did not have a nominee this season.
Bobby VanDuzer is a forward with 53 career goals and 25 career assists. He ranks 13th in his class with a 3.2 GPA out of 4.
He was a track captain as a junior and was track MVP as a freshman and sophomore. He was also a soccer captain as a sophomore, junior and senior and was the school MVP as a junior and senior. He was first team all-ACCAC as a junior.
Other activities include: church youth group student leader and missions trips to Mexico and Thailand.
His other soccer experience includes five years with the Parkland Area Soccer Club. He plans to attend Northampton Community College to major in emergency services.
Paula Herbert is a forward with 61 career goals and 22 career assists. She ranks seventh in her class with a GPA of 3.7 out of 4.
She's a four year letter winner and was the team's MVP every season. She was a captain her junior and senior years, all-conference four years and was top five in the Lehigh Valley in scoring.
Other activities include: basketball, field hockey, Sodexo Employee, choir along with many activities at her church.
Her other soccer experience includes 12 years with Moore Township, Northampton Club, Tri-Boro and LV Magic. She plans to attend college to major in nursing.
Gregory M. Casee is a midfielder with two career goals. He ranks sixth in his class with a 3.86 GPA out of 4.0.
Other activities include: track, German Club, Math Club, German American Partnership Program, powder puff football and Science Olympiad. He's the president of the National Honor Society.
His other soccer experience includes nine years with Northampton, Lehigh Township and many others. He plans to major in chemical engineering.
AnnaLia R. Giancaterino is a defender with one career goal. She ranks 22nd in her class with a GPA of 4.202 out of 4.
She was a captain for two years at NHS.
Other activities include: yearbook editor, peer helper and National Honor Society.
Her other soccer experience includes 11 years with Northampton and Tri-Boro. She plans to major in health/rehab science.
Kareem K. Green is a midfielder with two career goals and three career assists. He ranks 89th with a 3.68 GPA out of 4.
He was a captain of the soccer team as well as a kicker in football.
Other activities include: volleyball, wrestling, Math Honor Society, Zephyr Nation, Peer Mediator, Special Olympic Aid, youth group volunteer and Whitehall Public Library Student Council Volunteer.
His other soccer experience includes 13 years with Tri-Boro and Lehigh Valley United. He plans to attend the University of Penn to major in finance.
Natalee Rackus is a defender who ranks 12th and has a GPA of 4.38.
She was named to the all LVC first team for a year and was three years honorable mention. She was a captain for two years.
Other activities include: Big Brother, Big Sister, Math Club and National Honor Society.
Her other soccer experience includes four years with LV United. She plans to major in math and biology.
