Edward L. Schwartz
Edward L. Schwartz, 89, of Slatington, died Jan. 8, 2013, in the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Theresa C. (Deutsch) Schwartz for 66 years.
Born in Slatington, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary (Lagler) Schwartz.
He was in the U.S. Army in World War II and was listed for several months as missing in action in Germany. He was awarded a Purple Heart; a Good Conduct Medal; the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars; and the American Theater Ribbon.
He worked at 21st St. Clothing, Northampton, for many years.
He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church and of its Holy Name Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Edward and his wife Fay of Lancaster and Richard and his wife Katie of Frederick, Md.; two grandchildren, Lori and her husband Eric Sheetz and Edward J. and his wife Stephanie Schwartz; two step-grandchildren, Simon and Grace; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Andrew Sheetz, two step great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Nick; a brother, Frank Schwartz II of Slatington; and a sister-in-law, Theresa M. Schwartz of Slatington.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Annette P. Schwartz; and three brothers, Joseph, John and Louis.
