Jacob Becker wins CMS spelling bee

Catasauqua Middle School held its schoolwide spelling bee competition last Wednesday.

Congratulations to Jacob Becker, who came in first place and Mikaela Alleyne, who was runner-up. Both students were awarded a trophy with an engraved plaque and a dictionary.

Jacob was last year's spelling bee runner-up and Mikaela was the winner.

Jacob will advance to the preliminary written exam scheduled for Feb. 21 at Northampton Community College. The top ranking spellers from this exam will move on to the 27th Annual Express-Times Regional Spelling Bee at NCC March 23. The champion of that spelling bee will go on to Washington, D.C, to compete in the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee.

A special thanks to faculty and staff for making the event this year a success.

The Catasauqua Middle School CMS-PTF Movie Night scheduled for tomorrow evening has been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the high school auditorium.
