Catty Garden Club plant sale is Saturday

The Catasauqua Garden Club will hold their next meeting 1 p.m. May 7, at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

Since spring has finally arrived, Fred Buse, Pennsylvania Master Gardener and world traveler will take us on a relaxing trip through "A Day in Spring."

The club project will also be distributed. Entries for judging should be in place by 12:45 p.m.

Quick reminder, the Annual Plant Sale is scheduled for May 3 at the Catasauqua Public Library 9 a.m. to noon, or until all plants have a new home. Garden friendly folks are invited to both events.


The next J4 meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. May 7, at the Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., Catasauqua.


The South Catasauqua Annual Neighborhood Yard Sale is being held May 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be held at locations south of Race Street, up to and including Circle Drive. The sale will be these days rain or shine.

The fee for participation is $3 to defray the cost of the neighborhood permit.

Payment can be made to Linda at 385 Faith Drive, Ronnie at 520 Circle Drive, Penny at 809 Bethlehem Road and Eugenia at 817 Bath Ave.

The George Taylor House will open its doors to the public for the 2014 spring/summer/fall season 1-4 p.m. May 4. Dedication of the engraved plaza bricks takes place at 1 p.m. A Catasauqua School District chorus performance is planned for 1:30 p.m. Traditional May Day dances will be led and performed by the Catasauqua Suburban North YMCA dance students, 2-3 p.m. Guided tours through the George Taylor House will take place 2-4 p.m. There will also be springtime arts and crafts, food and beverage vendors, and a plant sale 1-4 p.m. Bring lawn chairs.

The Biery House, located at 8 Race St., will also be open from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is rain or shine. The George Taylor House is located on the corner of Lehigh and Poplar streets.


The Catasauqua Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is open with new spring and summer fashions. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations of used clean clothing are gratefully accepted during store operating hours.
