Borough pool to close Aug. 16

The borough pool will close for the season, Saturday, Aug. 16, 7 p.m.

Crazy Heart will perform Wednesday, Aug. 20, 6:30 p.m., at Lincoln Avenue and 18th Street, as part of the borough's free summer concert series.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

The Atlas Cement Company Memorial Museum will be open Sunday, Aug. 24, 1-3 p.m.

Located at 1401 Laubach Ave., the museum will remain open each second and fourth Sunday of the month through September.

The Siegfried Railroad Station, home of the Northampton Area Historical Society, will be open to visitors on the third Sunday of each month through September and, possibly, October.

The station, located on West 21st Street, will be open on Aug. 17, 1-4 p.m.

The station is a museum housing artifacts from the Northampton area. There are several permanent displays and some different displays each year. This year's main exhibit is the J.J. Kleppinger Meat Market.

There is no charge to visit the station, but donations are accepted for the continuing restoration of the station. A new floor was recently installed in the stationmaster's office. This was funded by a grant from the Northampton County Hotel Tax.
