Friendly Fifties to celebrate 23rd

The St. John's Friendly Fifties group will hold its 23rd anniversary meeting 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, in the St. John's social hall, 1343 Newport Ave.

Lunch will be served and Mike Skweir will provide the entertainment.

The rosary will be prayed before the meeting at 11:30 a.m. in the church.


The borough's Sister Cities celebration will be held 1-5 pm. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Municipal Park, Smith Lane and Laubach Avenue.

Joe Weber will perform.

The Northampton Liederkranz is looking for male and female bowlers to join established leagues as well as those looking to form a new league.

Holy Trinity Nursery School, 1235 Main St., has a limited number of openings for the 2014-15 school year.

The 2-year-old playgroup class, which meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30-11 a.m., is currently filled. A waiting list has been started.

The 3-year-old class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9-11:30 a.m. and the 4-year-old class meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12:15-2:45 p.m.

Both classes are limited to 16 children who need to be toilet trained. Children must turn the appropriate age for the class by Sept. 1.
