Oldies dance coming up at Tri-Boro

An oldies dance benefiting the Lehigh Valley Chorus, will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, 7-10 p.m., at Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club, West 21st St.

It's sure to be fun for whole family.

The New Dimensions will provide live vocal entertainment. Food and a cash bar will be available.

To purchase tickets, call 610-730-3434 or stop by the Tri-Boro club. Tickets will be available in advance and at the door, while they last.

The Lehigh Valley Chorus is an award-winning, all-women a cappella chorus with a 55-year history, an affiliated chapter of Sweet Adelines International. The group is comprised of women of all ages who are students, professionals, community volunteers, retirees and mothers raising families. The dance is a fundraising event for the chorus, which performs an engaging repertoire of songs that includes Broadway tunes, old standards and pop music at other events during the year.


The Northampton Area Public Library is holding its annual basket social Friday, Oct. 17 at the Northampton Memorial Community Center, 1601 Laubach Ave.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

The Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club will hold a Rock the River fall festival Oct. 11 and 12, noon-6 p.m., at the club, West 21st Street.

The festival will feature live music, food, refreshments and family fun.

The purpose of this event is to fund the cost of the club's music licenses.

Saturday will feature a college-football game/tailgate atmosphere with music by Trick Stacy and Social Call. Beer-tasting sessions will be sponsored by several local beer distributors. A chili cook-off with a traditional and nontraditional division will take place as well. The main event on Saturday is tailgate game tournaments with several local restaurants entering teams. Those restaurants will be competing for the Tailgate Cup, which will go to the best overall team.

The day will also include tournaments in horseshoes, quoits, corn hole, washers, ladder ball, bean bags, beer pong and human foosball.

All teams must register with Tri-Boro by Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Sunday will feature a motorcycle and classic car show. Ian Gallagher and Sons of Izzy will provide the entertainment. Unique to Sunday will be a mechanical bull and open tailgate games.

A pumpkin-chucking contest will be held as well.

There will be activities for the kids and families, including a pumpkin-painting contest each day, sand art, a hay maze and a scavenger hunt.

Tickets are available at or in person at Tri-Boro during the club's business hours.

A barbecue platter, entertainment and refreshments are included with the price of the ticket.


The Ron "Punkin" Miller 2014 Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 at Willowbrook Golf Course, Howertown Road.

This is a four-person scramble format with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The fee includes golf, beverages through the day and immediately after the tournament, dinner and prizes.

Contests include long drive, closest to the pin and pot of gold.

In memory of "Punkin," $500 of the proceeds will be donated to the Whitehall High School Baseball Booster Club. The remainder of the proceeds will benefit the Met Life Orioles Blue Mountain League baseball team.

St. John's Friendly Fifties will meet Monday, Oct. 13, 1 p.m., in the church's social hall, 1343 Newport Ave. Pete Begley will entertain.


Fall children's programs at the Northampton Area Public Library, 1615 Laubach Ave., will be held Oct. 28 through Dec. 11.

Wonderful Ones, for children ages 10 months to 2 years, will be held Thursdays, 10-10:45 a.m.

Toddler Storytime, for 2-year-olds, will be held Tuesdays, 11-11:20 a.m., or Wednesdays, 10-10:20 a.m.

Creative Preschoolers Storytime, for ages 3 and up, will be held Tuesdays, 10-10:45 a.m., or Wednesdays, 10:30-11:15 a.m.

Family Toddler/Preschool Storytime will be held Tuesday evenings, 6:30-7 p.m.

The Storycraft program, for children in kindergarten, first or second grade, will be offered Thursdays, 6-7 p.m.

A family Halloween craft party is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 22, 3:30 p.m.
