"Dream" book: A book release and signing of "Living the Dream," written by Dr. Rudy S. Ackerman and edited by Tim Higgins, will be held 5 - 8 p.m. March 25 and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. March 28, The Baum School of Art, 510 W Linden St., Allentown. "Rudy Ackerman has created a personal story that provides an overview of his dedication and love for the institutions he has served. The Baum School of Art is proud to celebrate his decades of accomplishments," said Shannon Fugate, Executive Director of The Baum School of Art. The memoir tells the story of Ackerman's Lehigh Valley arts leadership role as Executive Director (1965 -2005), along with that of his wife, Rose Ackerman, Director of Development (1974 -2011) at The Baum School (the couple is seen above in a 1987 photo at the Baum School), and as Chairperson of the art department of Moravian College. Declaration lecture: The story of the United States' Declaration of Independence is the subject of a lecture by Pennsylvania trial lawyer and author Atty. Malcolm J. Gross, 1 p.m. March 2, Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown. "Attorney Gross's experience as a trial lawyer and historical lecturer provides a dual perspective for understanding the Declaration of Independence and its impact on the young nation and the continuing development of American culture and jurisprudence," said Joseph Garrera, Executive Director of the Museum. Gross, above, is a partner in the law firm of Gross McGinley, LLP. Gross has lectured at Lehigh University, Muhlenberg College, Cedar Crest College and for dozens of civic groups.
