Welcome to the inaugural column of Running Rambles!
Throughout the year, we will be discussing running techniques and training methods, races and feature stories about them, and entertaining questions, comments, and suggestions.
It is an outlet for one of the latest and fastest growing crazes and sports around the Lehigh Valley and beyond as the amount of runners continuing increases weekly. Whether you're a walker or a beginner or experienced runner, we welcome your comments.
In the next few weeks, we will be offering a couch to 5K training program that can help anyone who has ever entertained thoughts of running this type of race. Also, we have a number of half-marathons and marathons within a comfortable driving distance of the Lehigh Valley, we will offer a plan to help you train for the big race.
On April 26, the annual St. Luke's Half Marathon, which begins at William Allen High School and runs along the Little Lehigh Parkway before returning to the area near the high school, has become a traditional staple. However, there will be more half and full marathons to tackle this year.
With the annual, sold-out, Super Bowl 10K traditionally and a sprinkling of 5Ks serving as a kickoff for season already behind us, here is a list of some races in the area during April (If you are sponsoring a race or running in one that is not listed, please let me know):
