Your look ahead at Valley Arts

Ring of fire: A "muse of fire" ignites Shakespeare's royal tale of England's celebrated King in the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's production of "Henry V," through Aug. 2, Main Stage, Labuda Center for the Performing Arts, DeSales University, Center Valley. Marnie Schulenburg, above, plays Katherine, the French princess. Zack Robidas plays the young King Henry. Greg Wood, a PSF veteran of 20 seasons, is the narrator of the play. Shakespeare's masterwork celebrates the power of language to shape destiny as it explores the enigmatic morality of leadership: At what cost to his land, his subjects and his conscience does Henry pursue the glories of his nation and his reign? "What intrigues me in this epic tale of British history is that Shakespeare strips down to the bare essentials the characters' journey and what makes them flawed human beings," said PSF veteran director Matt Pfeiffer. The cast includes Jane Ridley, Anthony Lawton, Wayne S. Turney, Jacob Dresch and Carl N. Wallnau. Tickets: pashakespeare.org, 610-282-WILL (9455)
