Hanover Township awards bid on interceptor line

Thursday, February 25, 2016 by paul cmil Special to The Press in Local News

At its meeting on Feb. 3, the Hanover Township Council awarded a bid contract to Doli Construction Corporation for the Willowbrook Inceptor Sanitary Sewer project.

The project is part of the preparation the township agreed to take responsibility for in an agreement with the Rockefeller Group, a commercial real estate developer.

The Rockefeller Group is developing the million-square-foot warehouse hub for FedEx Ground. (See related story, above.)

Albert Kortze, Hanover Township engineer, told the council he expects construction on the interceptor to begin shortly.

While township officials have expressed concern about the traffic the warehouse hub will bring onto Airport Road and Race Street, there is one benefit the township receives from the FedEx project. Sewer revenues collected as a result of the project will offset costs the township incurs from the Catasauqua Wastewater Treatment Plant.
