Coplay: Submit lifeguard applications by March 18

Thursday, March 10, 2016 by The Press in Columns

Individuals interested in lifeguard positions at Parkway Pool this summer must have their job applications into the borough hall office no later than March 18.

The lifeguards must be Red Cross certified in life safety procedures.

It has been a year now since the passing of former borough public works foreman and road crew member Dan Pavelko.

The anniversary of Pavelko’s death was remembered recently by his colleagues, who, as a group, visited his grave site at St. Peter’s Cemetery to pay respects for the friend.

As a reminder, an aerobics class takes place 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 8:45 a.m. Saturdays on the borough hall basketball court, 98 S. Fourth St.

There is a small fee.

Paul Boyle, public works chief, said potholes are not a problem only in the spring. Potholes are constantly monitored and filled in by borough crews.

The borough uses a permanent cold patch to seal the depressions on streets and alleys.
