Roughie Roundup: Girls beat Moravian

The girls soccer team defeated Moravian Academy 2-1.

Moravian got on the board first thanks to a Taylor Hesse free kick that was finished by Rachel Burrow.

But Catty would come back. Jade Biviano would even the score at 1-1 thanks to a pass from Hanasia Jenkins. Biviano placed it in the upper left corner.

In the second half, it was Biviano again with the game-winner which was once against assisted by Jenkins to give Catty the win.

The team lost to Southern Lehigh 5-1.

Tamaqua also knocked off Catty 7-2.

Freshman Jamie Zuber recorded a hat trick for the Raiders while fellow freshman Katelyn Rudy added two goals. Kayla Sherry and Angela Ceci both added goals to close out the scoring. Freshman Emma Kuczynski chipped in with three assists for Tamaqua.

Catty was able to get on the board after trailing 3-0. Katelin Gillespie scored unassisted to cut the deficit to 3-1. But Tamaqua added two more goals to up it to 5-1.

Hanasia Jenkins would score for the Roughs unassisted to make it 5-2.

The Catty cross country teams competed on Tuesday at Southern Lehigh.

Montana Muller was the team’s highest girl finisher taking 30th with a time of 25:30. The race was won by Katie George of Southern Lehigh with a time of 19:42.

Other CHS finishers were: Bree Sheldon 28:07, 36th; Bethanie DeLucia 28:33, 38th; Alexis Sheldon 30:04, 41st; Makena Webber 30:15, 42nd; Alexia Reichl 31:20; 47th; Dani Pluchinsky 34:00, 51st; Diamela Spencer 39:10, 52nd.

For the boys, Alec Hartranft led the way with a time of 20:41. Morgan O’Brien of Bangor won the race with a time of 16:21.

Other finishers for Catty were: Bradshawn Henning 20:50, 50th; Sebastian Henry 21:50, 63rd; Darien Wasser 22:23, 71st; Jason Schneck 22:26, 72nd; Nick Shelak 22:31, 74th; Ryder Faustner 22:38; 75th; Austin Gorr 23:18, 80th; Branden Bilheimer 24:09, 84th; Andrew Burick 24:32, 88th; Cody Walker 25:24, 90th; Tyson Stuber 25:41, 92nd; Logan Germano 26:01, 97th.

Boys soccer lost to Southern Lehigh 6-0.

Six different Spartans scored goals: Colin Hoff, Kyle Hoff, Michael Smith, Alex Milios, Marcus Glueck and Nate Morris.

The boys fell to Moravian 6-1.

The Roughs only goal was scored by Aaron Arancibia on an assist from John Dweck.

Catty lost to Salisbury 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Ethan Heydt scored two goals as did James Hadinger. Patrick Adams, Andrew Fletcher and Mason Groff each added a goal for the Falcons.

The Catty volleyball team fell to Tamaqua 25-12, 25-7, 25-11.

Carly Kosciolek had eight digs, seven kills and two aces. Kaitlyn Stauffenberg added seven digs, four kills and 12 aces for the winners.

The Catty JV team won 2-1.

The team also lost to Notre Dame Green Pond, 25-11, 25-5, 25-11.
