With spring lurking around the corner, signs of the season are beginning to blossom. With Major League Baseball in camps in Florida, the stadium lights at Coplay Sports complex shine in the evening sky as youngsters have begun their training.

Although there is not as much grime and grit on borough streets as in past winters due to little snow and ice on the roads, the borough, however, will have a contracted company conduct street sweeping May 17 and 18. The project is taking into account a possible late-winter snow blast, remembering such a storm sometime back on Easter Sunday.

The electronic lighted scoreboard erected last year at Sammy Balliet Stadium will be officially dedicated May 27.

The scoreboard was a project of the Coplay Legion Baseball Committee.

There will be a tire drop-off for residents in the spring; the date will be announced at a later time. The location has in the past taken place at the base of Bridge Street on borough property but may have to be changed because of bridge construction.

The tire drop-off program is free and held in conjunction with Lafarge Cement Company.
