Donald J. Herzog
Donald J. Herzog, 69, of Northampton, died Feb. 22, 2017, at St Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Bonnie E. (Ruch) Herzog for 46 years.
Born in Danielsville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Brickler) Herzog.
He was a 1967 graduate of Northampton High School where he was a member of the football, wrestling and baseball teams.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served a second tour in Germany in the early 1980s.
He worked for more than 20 years in the shipping and receiving department at Tyler Pipe. After he retired, he worked for Lehigh Valley IronPigs as a parking attendant and in the facilities department at Lehigh University. He was, for many years, a parking attendant for Northampton Area School District during football season.
He was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, and Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club, Northampton.
He coached football for Northampton Athletic Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Veronica and her husband John Fabian and David Herzog and his wife Amanda; three grandchildren, Shelby Fabian and Landon and Logan Herzog; five siblings, Joseph and his wife Nancy, Rosemarie and her husband Mel Haffner, Frank and his wife Janice, Daniel and his wife Gail and Janice and her husband Garry Mack; a sister-in-law, Janice Herzog; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert.
