The Pennsylvania Department of Education has released the 2016 SAT results, and the statistics show Catasauqua High School students exceeded scores from the previous year.

According to results posted online, the average score for CHS students taking the test in 2015 was 1505.

The average for 2014 had been 1474.

The reading average for CHS students was 507, an increase from a 489 average in 2014.

The math average was 510, which reflects an increase of one point from 2014.

Also, the writing average was 488, which is an increase from a 476 average in 2014.

Although the high school had not altered its curriculum, Principal David Ascani said the school is “pleased with the increase.”

The data, according to Ascani, reflects students who were expected to graduate in 2015.

Ascani added CHS restarted its SAT prep course last year.

Last year, 41 students took the SAT, compared to 57 who sat for the test in 2014.
