Bonilla seeks Lehigh County seat
Basilio Bonilla received the endorsement of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s Latino Caucus at an event held recently in Lancaster. The Latino Caucus is dedicated to increasing the political participation of Pennsylvania’s Latino and Hispanic communities.
He is on the Democratic ballot for the position of District 3 Lehigh County commissioner.
“Basilio would be the first Latino commissioner not only in Lehigh County, but in all of Pennsylvania,” the endorsement stated.
The endorsement was earned by Basilio for his dedication to the Latino community and all the residents of the Lehigh Valley.
Bonilla served on the Bethlehem School Board, where he was an outspoken advocate for policies to uplift Latino students and all students in the district facing adversity.
Lehigh County has a 12-percent Latino population, the third most Latinos of any county in Pennsylvania.
When elected as Lehigh County commissioner, he says, he will ensure that the Latino community and all those who are struggling will have their voices heard.
District 3 is composed of East and South Side Allentown, West Bethlehem, Catasauqua, Fountain Hill and Hanover Township.
