Thursday, April 27, 2017 by Scott Pagel spagel@tnonline.com in Sports

The Catasauqua girls track team lost a tough, close match with Palmerton last week, falling 74-72.

Tyra Brown was a double winner, taking the 100 in 13.36 and the 200 in 27.21. Brown is among the tops in the league in both events (See page A8).

In the 400 Trinity Kern took home first place with a time of 1:06.75.

Palmerton dominated the long distance events and the hurdles taking firsts in all five of those events and two of the three relays. The 400 relay team continues to sit second in the league, but won this race with a time of 52.38 as they try to fine-tune their game for the postseason.

Catty did dominate the field events, winning all six contests. Kenzie Bradley won the long and triple jumps and is also featured among the league leaders this season (See page A8). Bekkah Harakal won the pole vault while Jackie Garner (shot put 29-5), Jamie Reppert (discus 82-4) and Jade Biviano (javelin 84-11) also won events.

For the boys, Jacob Wittman won the pole vault clearing 12-3. He continues to lead the way in the Colonial League (See page A8).

Thanijhae Teasley was first in the 100 with a 11.57 but it was the Bombers who took home first in the long and short distance races. Teasley was a double-winner on the day, though, as he also won the high jump with a 12-3.
