Pluchinsky, Stires named Colonial Academic All-Stars

Seniors Dani Pluchinsky and John Stires have been selected as Catasauqua High School’s Colonial League Academic All-Stars for the 2016-17 school year.

Both students were honored, along with student-athletes from the other 12 Colonial League schools, at the Colonial League Academic All-Star Breakfast that was held at the Green Pond Country Club.

Dani was ranked fifth out of 110 with a grade-point average of 96.61. She is a three-year letter winner in both cross-country and softball, and a four-year letter winner as a boys basketball manager.

Dani was a captain of the cross-country team as a junior and a senior, and a captain of the softball team during her senior year. She has been named Student of the Semester four times and has earned distinguished honor roll every marking period.

Dani is a member of the National Honor Society, treasurer of the Varsity “C” Club, a yearbook adviser, Brown and White editor, a peer mentor and a member of SADD.

Dani also volunteers at the St. John’s UCC Church and is the president of the youth group at the church. She has also received the Altruism Award and the DAR Good Citizenship Award. Dani plans on attending Ithaca College to major in sports media.

John was ranked 13th out of 110 with a grade-point average of 93.79. He is a three-year letter winner in track and field and a two-year letter winner in football.

John was recognized as Catasauqua’s football scholar athlete for the 2016 season. He was also named a captain of the track and field team as a senior. During his junior year, John placed fourth in the pole vault at the Colonial League meet and third at the District 11 meet.

John is a member of the National Honor Society, the Varsity “C” Club, SADD, Student Council and the Scholastic Scrimmage team. John has also received the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award and has been a named a Student of the Semester.

He is currently participating in the Lehigh University Scholars program. John plans on attending Moravian College.
