Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin announced Tuesday that a former teacher at Whitehall High School has been charged in relation to his alleged inappropriate contact with students.

David Andrew Borghesani, 29, of 415 Morton Ct., Northampton, has been charged with one count each of Unlawful Contact with a Minor, a felony of the third degree, and Corruption of Minors, a misdemeanor of the first degree. He was arraigned through Central Booking Tuesday.

On Oct. 10, 2016, Whitehall Township Police Department was contacted by the Whitehall-Coplay School District regarding information received from the parents of a minor student about alleged inappropriate contact between their daughter and David Borghesani. Borghesani was a teacher at Whitehall High School at that time. He resigned from his position in February 2017.

The victim, named here as Jane Doe #1, was interviewed by WTPD Det. Jeffrey Bruchak. During that interview, the victim, who was a current student of Borghesani’s, stated that she and he were in contact via Snapchat for over a year. In the early stages of their communications, there were no inappropriate messages. However, in August of 2016, it is alleged that the defendant sent Jane Doe #1 several photos of his penis.

Through the course of the investigation, Det. Bruchak learned of a second potential victim, named here as Jane Doe #2, and interviewed her. It is alleged that Jane Doe #2 and Borghesani began communicating via Snapchat in 2016 when she was a minor.

It is alleged that she and Borghesani exchanged numerous nude photos during the summer of 2016. It is further alleged that the defendant messaged Jane Doe #2 that he wished to have sexual intercourse with her and also sent her a video of him masturbating.

Det. Bruchak learned of a third potential victim, named here as Jane Doe #3, who was a former student of Borghesani’s. This victim was interviewed by Det. Bruchak. It is alleged that when she was a student at Whitehall High School and under the age of 18, Borghesani sent her several nude photos of himself via Snapchat.

District Attorney Martin thanked Superintendent Dr. Lori Hackett and the administration and staff at the Whitehall-Coplay School District for their cooperation in this investigation and commended Det. Bruchak for his work on this case.

As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest has occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation; and the defendant, David Andrew Borghesani, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
