North Catasauqua: Seniors plan July birthday bash

“Birthday Bash” is the theme at this month’s meeting of Catty Seniors Plus, held July 26 at the Slovak Center Social Club. It is handicapped-accessible. Doors open noon, and the meeting begins 1 p.m. This month, the group will celebrate the birthday of the country and of the club members.

A picnic lunch and birthday cupcakes will be offered to club members, along with entertainment by singer Sam Pantoni, and followed by bingo games and more fun. Please take an item to donate to the Catasauqua Community Food Bank.

The club has a different speaker every month, offering information on programs available to seniors. The organization also is looking into offering a AAA driving program. For membership information, call Dorothy Vassa at 610-264-2853 or just attend a meeting. Everyone is welcome.


The borough will be sponsoring an electronics recycling day 9 a.m.-noon July 27. Visit the borough’s website for details.


The North Catasauqua Recreation Committee is hosting a family night 6:30 p.m. Aug. 2, with a carnival games theme and a rain date of Aug. 3.

The North Catasauqua Betterment Committee would like to thank everyone who helped to make the recent carnival and golf tournament a success. Thank you to all the businesses who sponsored the carnival bands, the businesses and residents who sponsored the golf tournament, the businesses who donated prizes for the event raffles, the borough police, public works and fire departments, borough organizations, the borough office staff for their assistance, all of the volunteers at both events and finally, the community, for attending and showing their support.

Partial funding for a new special equipment trailer for the North Catasauqua Fire Department, new street pole banners for the borough, seasonal flowers for the park and borough properties, new electric drop hookups for the Christmas snowflakes from PPL and new summer street pole banners for around the park will be purchased from the proceeds of these events.
