Catasauqua: Ben Franklin to visit George Taylor House

Wednesday, August 2, 2017 by The Press in Columns

At the George Taylor House, Front and Poplar streets, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6, hear the story of the “Franklin Militia.” General Ben Franklin presents his tales 2 p.m. There will be tours 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The winner of the Name the Mouse contest will be announced. Legend has it that Franklin was befriended back in 1745 by a mouse named Amos, who, as the story goes, was responsible for literally all of his remarkable achievements as an inventor, publisher and statesman.

There also will be a movie shown for the kiddos, so tell your friends!

On July 23, the YMCA offered Canoe in the Catty Pool. Qualified guides from Wildlands Conservancy instructed 34 families and children on safety and the basics of canoeing and kayaking as they paddled around the pool.

The Wildlands Conservancy provided all the necessary equipment, canoes, kayaks, paddles, etc., for this program.

My email address is if there is any information you would like published in this column. Have a great week!
