First day of school for students set for Aug. 28

It’s that time of the year again.

The first day of classes for Catasauqua Area School District students is Aug. 28.

Doors open for Sheckler Elementary School students 8:45 a.m. School begins for the students 8:50 a.m., and dismissal will be 3 p.m.

Catasauqua Middle School students will be permitted to enter the building 7:45 a.m. Classes begin 7:52 a.m., with students dismissed 2:20 p.m.

Catasauqua High School students may enter the building 7:36 a.m. Classes for students begin 7:44 a.m., and dismissal will occur 2:40 p.m.

The CHS orientation for new students is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 23 at the school.

Sheckler will hold its orientation program for incoming morning kindergarten students 9-10 a.m. and for afternoon kindergarten students 11 a.m.-noon Aug. 22 at the school.

Sheckler will hold a separate orientation for incoming and new students in first through fourth grades 1:30-2:30 p.m.

A fifth-grade open house is 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the middle school and will include a parent orientation and an opportunity for students to test their locker combinations. A parent or guardian must accompany his or her child that evening.

The CMS orientation program for incoming fifth-grade students is scheduled for 8:30 to 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at the middle school. The CMS orientation is for students only. Students should enter the main entrance of the school and report to their homerooms 8:30 a.m. Students will receive their schedules, get a tour of the building and have the opportunity to open their lockers.
