Elementary school: Annual Sheckler Cherrydale fundraiser begins

Wednesday, September 6, 2017 by The Press in School

Sheckler Elementary School’s 30th annual Cherrydale fundraiser will kick off Sept. 8 with an assembly held for students. The sale will end Sept. 29, at which time orders and payments are due back to teachers. Checks should be made payable to Sheckler HAS. Please include the seller’s name on the check.

Your participation in this fundraiser will help earn funds to be used for student activities and events throughout the school year. By selling 10 items (15 if selling for two Sheckler students), the student will be invited to attend the Mega Event, held at a later time, a fun event with inflatables dancing, games and more fun things. Students who sell 20 items or more will be invited to attend the Limo Lunch Cruise to be held at a later date. There are also more prizes they can earn based on the number of items they sell.

Pickup of orders will be in November and dates for events will be announced, so watch for updates.

Thanks in advance for your support in this fundraiser, and happy selling!

Sheckler’s meet the teacher night will take place Sept. 14. Doors will open 6 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, visit and get familiar with your child’s classroom and learn the classroom rules, hear about procedures and curriculum and get other information you made need. Information will also be given regarding November parent-teacher conferences.

There are two sessions that evening, so parents with two children at Sheckler can visit both classrooms. The first session will be 6:10-6:40 p.m. for grades 1-4 and morning kindergarten classes. Session two will be 6:50-7:20 p.m. for grades 1-4 and afternoon kindergarten.

Parents are asked that children not be brought this evening, as there will be no childcare available.

There will be information tables set up in the cafeteria for you to visit, learn about and get familiar with some great organizations you or your child may want to get involved with or answer questions you may have.

The Scholastic book fair will not be held this year during meet the teacher night, so parents can focus on the classroom experience. The book fair will be held at a later date.

Be sure to come out this evening for this important event. It’s a great way to begin the school year with information families need to begin a successful academic year.

Don’t forget, students in kindergarten and third grade must return physical or dental forms as soon as possible.

And finally, I hope everyone is adjusting well to this new school year and settling in to their routines. Have a great year!
