Middle school: Meet the teachers tonight at the middle school

Wednesday, September 6, 2017 by The Press in School

The dates for meet the teacher night and picture day in last week’s column were incorrect. My apologies for the error.

Catasauqua Middle School meet the teacher night is, in fact, 7-8:30 p.m. this evening, Sept. 7, at the school.

The book fair will continue today and tomorrow.

Picture day is scheduled for tomorrow.

CMS welcomes three new instructional aides this school year.

Taylor Krause is a certified instructional aide and will assist with seventh- and eighth-grade learning support.

Christopher Casciotti is an instructional aide who will assist in the emotional support classroom.

Also, Jalen Nichols is an instructional aide who will work in the learning support classrooms, grades 5-8.

A reminder, the Save Around coupon book fundraiser ends tomorrow, Sept. 8.

On Sept. 12, CMS will again host the Olweus Anti-Bullying Kickoff assembly for CMS students.

CMS continues to take the necessary, proactive steps to stop and prevent bullying through this program.

The program is a coordinated effort by adults in the school to oversee and properly intervene when bullying occurs.

Students participate in bi-weekly class meetings focused on the effects of bullying, the steps that can be taken when it occurs and how students can work with adults in the school to stop bullying when it happens.

This year’s assembly will feature the band Attaboy!

The school board is scheduled to meet 7 p.m. Sept. 12 in the district administration office board room, 201 N. 14th St.
