Boys fall to Palisades
The Catasauqua boys soccer team struggled during a tough stretch on the schedule, but head coach Joshua Inman is encouraged for the future with one of the Colonial League’s best young goal scorers.
Freshman Damian DiPaolo leads the Rough Riders with eight goals on the season, and leads the team in shots on goal. DiPaolo got his high school career started with two goals in the season opener against Northern Lehigh and has become a vital part of Catasauqua’s attack. Junior Devon Troxell (four goals) and sophomore Joseph Merkel (three goals) give Coach Inman a solid core to grow with over the last two weeks of the season.
After a 4-0 defeat to Palisades on Tuesday, Sept. 26, Catasauqua fell to 3-7-1 on the season. The Rough Riders have victories over Northern Lehigh, Lehigh Valley Christian and Lehighton with a draw against Bangor.
Catasauqua travels to undefeated Notre Dame-Green Pond on Thursday, Sept. 28 and Tamaqua on Saturday, Sept. 30 before hosting a trio of home games the following week.
