Clair D. Hunsberger
Clair D. Hunsberger, 86, of Fullerton, died Sept. 27, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Louise “Mary Lou” M. (Zondlo) Hunsberger for 55 years.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Franklin and Pearl (Diehl) Hunsberger.
He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and was a corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division. He earned two bronze stars.
He was a machinist mechanic at the former Tarkett, Whitehall, for almost 48 years,
He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church.
He was a longtime member of the Golden Agers. He was a state committee man. He helped establish the former Whitehall Emergency Squad and was a Whitehall Township reserve policeman.
He was a member and a past commander of Fullerton American Legion Post 367 and attended many state Legion events. He was a board member and a past president of the Tarkett Federal Credit Union. He was a past president of both the Whitehall Democratic Club and of the board of commissioners for Whitehall Township. He was a founding member and past board member of the Fullerton Memorial Playground and Athletic Association. He was a member of the Whitehall Lions Club.
He is survived by a son, Ronald C. of Whitehall; two daughters, Michelle M. Evans of Whitehall and Claire L. Swartwood of Germansville; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Thelma, Lorraine, Loretta and Goldie.
He was predeceased by a sister, Doris; and a brother, Edward.
