Werner J. Greb
Werner “Whitey” J. Greb, 71, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Forest Inn, died Aug. 19, 2017, at his home.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Werner and Rose Nickisher Greb.
He was a scholar athlete and a 1964 graduate of Northampton High School. He attended Lafayette College and graduated from Moravian College.
He graduated from Officer Candidate School and was, for 30 years, in the U.S. Army Reserves, and retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Civil Affairs Unit. He was in the 1983 U.S.-led invasion of Grenada and in the 1994 Operation Uphold Democracy, Haiti.
He worked at Cement National Bank, Northampton, and at the First National Bank of Palmerton.
He attended the New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages, Fla.
He was a member of the Honorary First Defenders. He was a member of the Whitehall Kiwanis Club and the Suburban North YMCA.
He is survived by two daughters, Carli and her husband Jared Orth of Collegeville and Stacy and her husband Ryan Knecht of Northampton; two sons, Todd and his wife Bobbi of Macungie and Scott of Breinigsville; nine grandchildren, Travis and Liam Orth, Ambrose and Daniel Knecht, Brandon, Natalie, Elizabeth and Katie Greb and Dana Greb; a sister, Paulette and her husband Thomas Beidel of Coplay; a brother, Dennis and his wife Nancy Greb of Catasauqua; and his significant other, Darlene Waller of The Villages, Fla.
There will be a celebration of life service 11 a.m. Oct. 13 at the Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., Coplay, 18037.
