Volleyball continues to improve this year

The Catasauqua volleyball team has shown considerable improvement over the course of the season, but ran into one of the area’s best teams on Thursday, Oct. 5.

Undefeated Southern Lehigh defeated the Rough Riders 25-9, 25-5, and 25-13.

With four wins on the season and one game remaining on the schedule, Catasauqua has doubled last season’s win total.

Head Coach Danielle Heller is encouraged by the progress she’s seen over the course of the season.

“Our overall playing together has definitely grown,” Heller said. “Our defense has become more aggressive and it has shown going from two wins last year to four.”

Megan Nyce is the lone senior on this year’s team.

According to Heller, Nyce’s leadership has been instrumental in keeping team morale high during rough stretches in the Colonial League schedule.

“We are improving each and every day,” Heller said. “Every time that we step on the court we are getting better.”

The Rough Riders end their season on Oct. 14 against Salem Christian.
