Catasauqua: Lehigh Valley Decorative Painters to host Nov. 5 art auction

Wednesday, November 1, 2017 by The Press in Columns

The Lehigh Valley Decorative Painters group will present its 26th annual art auction Nov. 5 at Sheckler Elementary School, 14th Street. Preview time is 1 p.m., and bidding time is 2 p.m.

Once a year, LVDP’s artists get together to have an auction of their hand-painted items, all unique and one of a kind.

Tickets for a pre-lit Christmas tree filled with painted ornaments will also be available. All ornaments are hand-painted by the members.

For more information, call Bernice at 610-837-3854 or Rosalie at 610-261-0867.

Joseph M. Carl, emergency management coordinator for the borough, will speak at an emergency preparedness and prevention presentation titled “What Should I Do Until Help Comes?” The event will take place 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Public Library of Catasauqua, 302 Bridge St.

Christmas time is almost here again. Some extra hands are needed to assist the Northampton Community College volunteers with moving the Christmas trees from the attic and into the George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets, 9 a.m. Nov. 11. If available, please let Emily or Carrie know by emailing You can also just show up that day to help.

The next meeting of the George Taylor House volunteers will be 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at Catasauqua Borough Hall.

Please note this is a change from the usual third Tuesday of the month meeting due to Thanksgiving being the third week this year.

Also, note the location change from GTH pavilion to a conference room in the borough hall. The group will be specifically planning the second annual Christmas tree-lighting event.

My email address is if there is any information you would like published in this column. Have a great week!
