Coplay: Remember to vote

Wednesday, November 1, 2017 by The Press in Columns

The polls will be open Nov. 7 for the municipal election. The polling places in the borough are at Commitment to Family & Community on Cherry Street and St. John’s Lutheran Church on South Third Street. Council seats and the mayor’s office are on the ballot.

Reminder: Coplay Sports Inc. will meet 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at its quarters off Sixth Street. The upcoming basketball program and cheerleading will be on the agenda.

The American flags that are flown from utility poles along Second and Chestnut streets during patriotic holidays will go back up for Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Several years ago, a borough committee raised the funds for the flags.

There is no veterans program scheduled in the borough.

The borough’s emergency management coordinator post is vacant. Duties of the position include preparing and maintaining current emergency operations plans; establishing, equipping and staffing an emergency center; consolidating warning and communications systems; and training and preparing for emergencies of various origins.
