Elementary school: Sheckler students can shop Dec. 11-15 for family, friends

Wednesday, December 6, 2017 by The Press in School

Volunteer elves with Home and School will be busy getting ready for Sheckler’s holiday shop. This in-school shopping program will be open Dec. 11-15.

Students will have the opportunity to shop and purchase gifts for their families or friends, so they can give the gifts to them for the holiday.

Students will be given grade-level days during this week at school when they can make their purchases if they choose to do so.

Students in fourth grade have been creating ornaments with Mr. Kotran to fill the holiday trees that are displayed in the hallways.

They can be viewed when students take to the stage Dec. 14 for their Christmas program and band concert for families and friends. The program begins 7 p.m.

Come out and enjoy getting in the spirit of the season!

Fourth-grade students also participated in the annual Festival of Trees event, held at Lehigh Valley International Airport. This is an opportunity where local schools can show holiday spirit by decorating a tree donated by various tree farms and displayed at the airport.

Each fourth-grade student wrote his or her holiday wish on a red or green ribbon, and the ribbons were placed on the tree.

The hope is for visitors of the tree to take off a wish, while then leaving their own wish in its place to share in the spirit of the season.
