North Catasauqua: Borough hall is offering luminaria kits for Dec. 16 event

Wednesday, December 13, 2017 by The Press in Columns

Luminaria night will be Dec. 16 in the borough. Stop by borough hall during regular business hours to purchase your luminaria kits. Each purchase includes 10 bags, 10 candles, sand and directions. Lighting will begin 5 p.m. Do your part to create a peaceful, angelic glow on your street.

This is a fundraiser for the North Catasauqua We Sing! Community Chorus. Residents may also purchase luminarias to be placed around North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park and the borough to help the park and small Town USA shine on this special night.

The eighth annual luminaria night at the park, 601 Grove St., will begin 6 p.m.

The chorus will provide complimentary limo bus rides around the park and borough for participants to view the luminarias and Christmas lights. The bus will leave the park approximately every 10 minutes.

There will be refreshments, goodies and candy canes for everyone. Bring your camera, and enjoy this fun family night.

Judging for the annual holiday home decorating contest concludes this week, and winning home displays will be announced soon. To enjoy all of the light displays in the borough, pick up a copy of the self-guided tour beginning Dec. 17 at borough hall, and enjoy a drive through the borough during the holiday season.

The streets of North Catasauqua are twinkling with holiday cheer, as a number of streets are lined with lighted snowflake ornaments. Three additional ornaments are available for sponsorships for the 2017 Christmas season. Individuals, families, organizations or businesses can sponsor a holiday snowflake. A plaque will be attached with the name of the sponsor.

For information about the cost, call 610-264-1504 or email the North Catasauqua Betterment Committee at

The North Catasauqua Betterment Committee will pay the cost for the electric drop connection from PPL Utilities to light each new snowflake.

The small Town USA holiday food drive benefits the Catasauqua Area Food Bank. Bring your canned goods, nonperishable food items, toiletry items and household paper products to North Catasauqua Borough Hall. The drop-off bin is in the main vestibule. The drive will continue through Jan. 9, 2018. It is presented by the betterment and recreation committees.

A variety of apparel items and gear are available at borough hall, all with the North Catasauqua insignia. Visit borough hall for some of your Christmas shopping, or email for more information.
