Bethany Wesleyan Church member

Lloyd J. Liggitt, 88, of Walnutport, died Jan. 5, 2018, at Kirkland Village, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Jean R. (Dieter) Liggitt.

Born in Washington County, he was a son of the late Erwin and Margaret (Sly) Liggitt.

He was a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1946-1949.

He was a life insurance agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Bethlehem, for 25 years before retiring in 1985. While there, he earned the Metropolitan Life Insurance President’s Award.

He was the owner/operator of the former Northampton Lumber Company from 1978-1990.

He was a 60-year member of Bethany Wesleyan Church, Cherryville, where he was on the church board for several years.

He is survived by four sons, Leon J. and his wife Sharon of Muncy, Larry L. and his wife Rosina of Summit Hill, Lyle J. of Easton, Md., and Todd R. and his wife Melissa of Danielsville; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Liggitt; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Ronald E.; four brothers, Oliver, Francis, Willard and Robert; and three sisters, Hazel Kellenberg, Ellen Goodrich and Esther Taylor.

There will be a calling time 9-11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service, both Jan. 13 at Bethany Wesleyan Church, 675 Blue Mountain Drive, Cherryville, 18035.
