Catasauqua girls fall to Wilson Warriors
“We are a M.A.S.H. unit right now.”
Head coach Ed Seidick and the Catasauqua girls basketball team are digging deep to close out the 2017-18 season.
The Rough Riders fell to Wilson 63-24 on Tuesday, Jan. 23 in a physical contest at the CHS Gymnasium.
Freshman Alexis Rushatz helped jump start Catty’s offense in a tight first quarter, but the Warriors out-scored the Rough Riders 18-7 in the second quarter to take a 33-16 lead into halftime.
Rushatz led Catty with 11 points, followed by Makenzie Bradley with eight.
The Rough Riders jumped out to a 5-0 run at the start of the second half to cut the deficit to 12, but it was all Warriors after that.
Wilson’s Ally Quinn scored a game-high 22 points, including three 3-pointers. Gaby Vega added 15 for the Warriors.
Four members of Catasauqua’s rotation failed to finish the game due to injury. Prior to the varsity contest, the JV game was limited to six-minute quarters because of attrition.
In addition to the injuries, the Rough Riders did not benefit from any home whistles. Catty was called for 18 of the game’s 27 fouls, including a technical in the fourth quarter.
Catasauqua hosts Palmerton on Thursday, Jan. 26 and travels to Salisbury on Friday, Jan. 27.
