Chief says informal atmosphere better for borough residents

Blocker’s Coffeehouse, 309 Front St., Catasauqua, hosted its first-time Coffee with a Cop event May 9.

“We had someone, who prefers to remain anonymous, who wanted to try an informal setting where residents could talk with local police. We thought it was a good idea,” Police Chief Douglas Kish said.

The anonymous donor paid for the coffee for attendees, and various officers from the force, in addition to the police chief, stopped in to talk with them.

The idea is to continue the coffee shop talk in the future.

“It’s much better if residents can express some of their concerns or ideas in an informal atmosphere,” Kish said.

This event was advertised on Facebook and on the community bulletin board at Pine and Front streets.
