Main Streets members meet at brewing company
Members of Main Streets, Catasauqua’s business owners association, met for their quarterly meeting May 31 at the new Taylor House Brewing Company, on Lehigh Street, across from the George Taylor House.
“Every quarter, we have a formal meeting at a local business,” Kimberly Brubaker, the association’s president, said. “This meeting was special because it was the night before Taylor House Brewing would be open to the public.”
Taylor House Brewing Company owners Fred and Annette Pompa talked at length about the trials and tribulations of starting their new business.
“For us, this is a new direction in our lives,” Annette said.
The tasting room opened to rave reviews June 1.
“It’s new and exciting, but we need to keep the enthusiasm going. We are happy that this dream of ours has been so well accepted in the community,” she said.
Bringing their concept to reality was a yearlong process fraught with unexpected twists and turns. There is a state and local requirement that Taylor House Brewing Company serve food. The initial vision was some sort of snack foods. Those are available, but the Pompas teamed up with nearby La Herencia El Camacho and have top-notch bar plates.
“It’s been a little hectic for both of us while we work everything out, but the customers enjoy the option of having food brought in,” Annette said.
The tasting room is usually open 4-10 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 2-10 p.m. Saturdays and 2-8 p.m. Sundays. There is a secluded room for private parties.
