North Catasauqua: Seniors Plus club will meet Sept. 26

Catty Seniors Plus meets Sept. 26 at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1223 Fifth St. Doors open noon, and the meeting begins 1 p.m. The speaker is from Meals on Wheels.

Refreshments will be served; bingo games will follow. Everyone is asked to bring an item for Catasauqua Community Food Bank.

The building is handicapped accessible at the rear entrance.

A Dec. 11 bus trip is planned to American Music Theater, with lunch at Hershey Farms.

A bus trip to Hollywood Casino is planned for this month. The bus is generally filled by members, but there is a substitute list in case of last-minute cancellations.

The 12th annual Best of North Catasauqua Autumnfest will be presented by the North Catasauqua Betterment Committee 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 13 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

While the event has been held on Sundays in the past, this year’s Autumnfest is on a Saturday, with a rain date of Oct. 14.

A fun mix of food, live music, a vendor market, crafts, flea market and displays by local organizations and businesses will provide something for everyone to enjoy. Plans include a car show with more than 200 entries and a race car owned by Mario Andretti, children’s activities, a halupki-eating contest and a kids’ pie-eating contest.

Craft and flea market spaces are available.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., has been closed since Sept. 17 for cleaning and to change the clothing from summer to fall and winter. The shop reopens Sept. 20 with all new clothing. Please stop in and see all the new items.

Donations of used, clean clothing are gratefully accepted during store operation hours, which are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

Mark your calendar now for the Catasauqua-North Catasauqua Halloween parade, set for 7 p.m. Oct. 17, and for trick-or-treat night, planned for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
