St. John Fisher Catholic Church member

Albert “Abby” B. Polchik, 89, of Catasauqua, died Oct. 2, 2018, at Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Barbara (Oleschak) Polchik for 60 years.

Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Joseph F. Sr. and Elizabeth (Chihuly) Polchik.

He was a member of Catasauqua High School Class of 1947.

He was with the military police in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean and other service medals.

He was, for 30 years, a former supervisor and assistant postmaster at the Catasauqua Post Office. He was employed in security at Bell & Howell before he took retirement.

He was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church, North Catasauqua.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 215, Catasauqua, and Catholic War Veterans Post 454. He was a Third Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus 528. He was a life member of the Southwark Hose Company No. 9, Catasauqua. He was a member of the Catasauqua Legion basketball champions who were runners up to the 1954-1955 state legion title.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Theresa Polchik and Barbara and her husband Thomas Correll; three grandchildren, Sean Michael, Taryn Patrice and Tyler Matthew; and a nephew, Joseph B. Polchik.

He was predeceased by a son, Bernard; a daughter, Michelle; and a brother, Joseph Jr.
