Joseph Richard Kucharik
Joseph Richard Kucharik, 97, of Whitehall, died Oct. 29, 2018. He was the husband of the late Catherine M. “Bonnie” (Bonenberger) Kucharik for 65 years.
He was a son of the late John and Mary (Katerinec) Kucharik.
He was an Allentown High School graduate.
He was a machinist for Bradley Pulverizer for 46 years until he retired.
He was a 1935 and 1936 Amateur Bicycle League winner. He was a member of the Allentown Wheelmen Cycle Team.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, where he was a lector, usher, Eucharistic minister, bingo master and master of ceremonies for the Golden Agers. He was involved in the church’s 25th anniversary celebration, the remodeling of the parish hall and with parish festivals.
He and his wife cared for foster children and refugees.
He is survived by a brother, Paul Kucharik of Shelton, Wash.; two daughters, Nancy at home and Joanne and her husband Raymond Laudenslager of Allentown; five sons, Richard and his wife Brenda of Breinigsville, Joseph Jr. and his wife Teresa of New Cumberland, Thomas and his wife Ellen of Wexford, James and his wife Karen of Northampton and Francis and his wife Ginger of Kingston, N.Y; 18 grandchildren, Jonathan, Heather, Christopher, Adam, Brian, Rebecca, Eric, Scott, Jason, Shawn, Jana, Rachael, Nathan, Erin, Mark, Patrick, Jeremy and Mitchell; 22 great-grandchildren, Paige, Landon, Lydia, Zachary, Drew, Addie, Emily, Autumn, Chase, Ethan, Will, Charlotte, Aaron, Elliott, Sophia, Hailey, Claire, Alice, Luke, Aesun, Morgan and Eloise Joy; three stepgrandchildren, Damian, Lexi and Camryn; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Bonenberger of Allentown and Margaret Bonenberger of Whitehall; nieces; nephews; and extended family.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine; a son, Michael; five sisters; and three brothers.
There will be a visitation 8:30 a.m. in the church foyer, followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m., Nov. 19 at the church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall, 18052.
