former Catasauqua High School principal

Frank J. Troxell Sr., 83, of Catasauqua, died Jan. 30, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Long) Troxell for 56 years.

Born in Shamokin, he was a son of the late Wm. Blaine and Grace E. (Evans) Troxell.

He was a 1953 graduate of Shamokin High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business education from Bloomsburg State Teachers College and a Master of Education degree in educational administration from Lehigh University.

He worked as a business education teacher and an assistant principal. He retired as the principal of Catasauqua High School in 1993. He was known as “Big Daddy” throughout the district.

He was a treasurer for both the Public Library of Catasauqua and the Catasauqua High School Sports Hall of Fame. He observed student teachers for DeSales University.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Frank J. Jr. and his wife Christa and David A. and his wife Gretchen; a brother, William; five grandchildren, Michela, Cory, Devon, Derek and Delaney; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Betsy; a sister-in-law, Margaret; and a niece, Carol.

Contributions may be made payable to the funeral home, 234 Walnut St., Catasauqua, 18032, to establish a Catasauqua High School scholarship in his name.
