Sail away with Catty
“Anything Goes,” with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, cruises to the stage at Catasauqua High School March 21-24.
Written by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse, later revised by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, the musical comedy debuted on Broadway in 1934.
“Anything Goes” features the misadventures of Billy Crocker, a stowaway aboard an ocean liner, who falls in love with American debutante Hope Harcourt. He is aided by gangster Moonface Martin and nightclub singer Reno Sweeney in his pursuit of the heiress, who is engaged to stuffy Englishman Lord Evelyn Oakleigh.
CHS Drama Club director Brenda McGuire is assisted by choreographer and assistant director Kerry McGuire, assistant choreographer Jessica Englert and music director Robert Arnold.
“Catasauqua High School is proudly presenting the 1962 revival of ‘Anything Goes.’ So, pack your bags, pull up a deck chair and sail away with us to merry ole’ England, on the S.S. American for a rollicking great time!” McGuire said.
Showtimes are 7 p.m. March 21, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. March 24 in the CHS auditorium, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Northampton.
