Coplay: Coplay’s 150th anniversary parade is set for May 18
With expectations the weather will cooperate, the 150th anniversary parade will step off 1 p.m. May 18.
The parade begins at the corner of Ninth and Chestnut streets. The route will proceed down Chestnut Street, take a right onto Second Street, to Hokendauqua Street and up to Fifth Street.
The bands, floats and other participants are to be at the staging area by 12:30 p.m.
Taking part in the parade are musical groups, law enforcement personnel, churches and borough organizations.
St. Peter Roman Catholic Church will hold a ham and chicken dinner 4-7 p.m. May 18 in the church hall, 4 S. Fifth St.
Dessert and fixings are included.
The dinner is open to the public. There is a cost.
The drawing for the Coplay Public Library basket raffle will be 7 p.m. at the dinner. You don’t have to be present to win.
The baskets will be on display for the event, and tickets may be purchased during dinner.
Commitment to Family & Community, 165 Cherry St., will have an all-you-can-eat breakfast 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. May 19.
The event is open to the public.
Residents are reminded that grass clippings are not to be blown into the roads when mowing.
The grass clippings cause clogs in the stormwater drains.
