Area veterans groups plan Memorial Day services

Memorial Day services are planned across the region. The public is invited to attend the programs, organized by local veterans groups to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve and protect our freedoms.

CATASAUQUA

• American Legion Post 215 will travel to various locations in Catasauqua and North Catasauqua boroughs May 27:

10 a.m. — Fairview Cemetery, 2584 Lehigh St., Whitehall

10:15 a.m. — Pine Street Bridge, Catasauqua

10:30 a.m. — North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

10:45 a.m. — St. Mary’s cemetery, Catasauqua

11 a.m. — Legion post, 330 Second St., Catasauqua

COPLAY

• Stanley W. Reinhard American Legion Post 426 will hold services May 26 at the following locations:

Noon — Coplay Saengerbund memorial, South Fifth Street

12:10 p.m. — St. Peter cemetery, South Fifth Street

12:20 p.m. — St. John’s cemetery, South Ruch Street, Stiles

12:30 p.m. — Stiles memorial, Chestnut Street

12:40 p.m. — Coplay Cemetery, Ninth and Oak streets

12:50 p.m. — Coplay memorial, Poplar and Chestnut streets

1 p.m. — Legion post, 134 S. Second St.

NORTHAMPTON

• The Sons of Veterans of the Grand Army of the Republic Captain Theodore H. Howell Camp No. 48, under the command of Donald D. Schwartz, will participate in two days of services:

May 26

8:15 a.m. — Fairview Cemetery, Cherryville Road, Northampton

9 a.m. — St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 8143 Valley View Road, Seemsville (service and cemetery)

10:20 a.m. — Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church, 3175 Valley View Drive, Bath (cemetery)

11 a.m. — Christ Church United Church of Christ, Little Moore, 913 S. Mink Road, Danielsville (cemetery)

Noon — Horner’s Cemetery, 4965 Nor-Bath Blvd., Northampton

2 p.m. — Zion Stone United Church of Christ, 51 Church Road, Kreidersville (service and cemetery)

May 27

8 a.m. — Grand Army of the Republic memorial plot, Lincoln and Dewey avenues, Northampton

8:45 a.m. — Allen Union Cemetery, Fourth and Main streets, Northampton (This is an outdoor service. In the case of inclement weather, the program will take place at Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave., Northampton.)

9:45 a.m. — St. John’s United Church of Christ, 22 Atlas Road, Howertown (service and cemetery)

11 a.m. — Siegfried memorial plot, West 21st Street, Northampton

• The Northampton Joint Veterans Association — comprised of American Legion Post 353, Catholic War Veterans Post 454 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 — will hold a service 11 a.m. May 27 at the Veterans Plaza, 14th Street and Dewey Avenue.

WHITEHALL

• Hokendauqua American Legion Post 739 will hold a service 11:15 a.m. May 26 at the triangle, Third and South streets.

• Fullerton American Legion Post 367 will lead a program 10 a.m. May 27 at 609 Fullerton Ave.

• Donald S. Reinert Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293 will travel May 27 to various locations in Whitehall Township:

9 a.m. — Cementon, Main Street

9:30 a.m. — Egypt, at the South Church Street triangle

10 a.m. — Egypt Memorial Park, 4548 Main St.

10:30 a.m. — Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road

11:30 a.m. — VFW post, 5209 Springmill Road, Egypt

• A Memorial Day program will be held 10:30 a.m. May 27 at Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road. Local officials and veterans groups will participate.
